West Ham skipper Blair Turgott hailed his team's performance in the Clyde Best Invitational Tournament after they finished the round-robin competition on a winning note.

Turgott, who added to Sunday's double with a hat-trick last night against Bermuda Grey, believes they can go back to East London as happy Hammers despite not winning the tournament, named after West Ham legend Best.

"I think we have played well tonight – the whole side got on the ball with confidence and knocked it around and that was one of goals. We can be satisfied with our match," said the England Under-16 international.

"Coming here we knew it would be a hot country, we had to adapt to the weather so we all pulled together considering we haven't been here before and coped with the elements well."

West Ham beat both Bermuda Red and Grey 5-0 and 8-2 respectively after losing their opener to French side St. Etienne 2-0.

The team now return to England to play Ipswich Town at home, a crucial match that could see them move away from Chelsea, Ipswich and Fulham, who are all separated by goal difference in their league table.

Turgott added: "Aside from the loss to the French team we can go home with our heads held high with the positives we got from the tournament."
