BCB gains ground
Bermuda Commercial Bank Ltd. was the biggest climber in Bermuda Stock Exchange (BSX) trading last week.
BCB gained 3.7 percent, as its share price gained 35 cents to $9.90 on the trading of more than 44,300 shares.
Butterfield Bank edged BCB as the most actively traded stock of the week, as 44,932 shares changed hands. But Butterfield held steady at $1.50.
KeyTech Ltd. suffered a negative week, plunging 4.8 percent. The owner of the Bermuda Telephone Company, which last week announced that it had purchased the one third of Cayman telecoms firm WestTel that it did not previously own, fell 35 cents to $7, as 20,776 shares were traded.
Ascendant Group Ltd. the owner of electricity provider Belco, was up 1.7 percent, climbing 25 cents to $14.75 on the trading 100 shares. Ascendant last week announced improved profits of $5.8 million for the first six months of this year.
Insurer BF&M Ltd. saw 18.405 of its shares change hands, but remained unchanged on $13.25.
The Royal Gazette/BSX Index rose 0.45 points, or 0.03 percent, to close the week on 1,275.07.
Volume was just shy of 130,000 shares, while turnover topped $906,000.
