Fourteen points from Danielle Watson was enough to push Hamilton Parish Hurricanes over the Warwick Suns in women's basketball league action.

The Suns came out of the gates blazing, determined to redeem themselves after their last performance that saw the team score a record low four points in the first half.

Recovered from an ankle injury, Suns starting centre Chante' Thompson, who led her side's scoring with 13 points, poured in the first six points before the Hurricanes went on an 8-0 run to regain the lead.

The two sides would continue to trade baskets for most of the first half but two costly turnovers in the last minute by the Suns resulted in Hurricanes taking a two-point advantage into the break.

In the second half, the athletic play of Hurricanes guard Watson opened up a series of shooting opportunities, as her side led by eight with 10 minutes remaining.

Then a costly foul by Thompson forced her to the bench allowing Watson to attack the rim at will, scoring a series of acrobatic lay-ups to push the lead to 10 points.

As Suns shot a poor 1-10 from the floor, Parish went on to collect a comfortable victory.

Suns: Chante' Thompson (13 pts)

Hurricanes: Danielle Watson (14 pts)

St. George's Storm 40

Somerset Hornets 27

Jahtuere Trott led from the front in St. George's' victory, scoring 12 points to pace the side over their Cup Match rivals.

WIth Somerset's former national team players out of action, Dee Trew was left to carry the offensive load against the high scoring East Enders who have won their last five out of six games.

In the early minutes, Storms shooting guard Trott found her form, hitting back-to-back jump shots from the wing to give her team an 8-2 lead.

Hornets centre Sade Fox would bring the Hornets within eight points after cleaning up her team-mates' missed shot attempts from the floor.

For the remaining of the first half, St. George's dominated in the paint and outside from the perimeter, scoring at ease to take a 24-8 half-time lead.

In the second half, Somerset's scoring would improve as they shot 4-6 from the field in the early minutes to pull within eight again.

But Storm would weather that run and pushed their lead back to double digits.

Despite trading baskets most of the second half, St. George's would finish the game on an 8-0 run to close out the victory.
