AIG units may have ratings cut

NEW YORK (Bloomberg) — American International Group Inc., the world's biggest insurer by assets, may have credit ratings cut at some of its units, Moody's Investors Service said.

The third-highest insurance financial strength rating of Aa2 may be cut on AIG Edison Life Insurance Company, American International Assurance Company (Bermuda) Ltd., American Life Insurance Company and the members of AIG's Commercial Insurance Group, Moody's said ON fRIday in a statement.

Moody's said on May 9 it may cut AIG's credit rating after it posted a net loss of $7.8 billion for the three-months to 2008. Standard & Poor's cut the company's rating one level on May 8 to AA-.
