Rebecca Leetch, from England, last month joined the foundation's ranks to bring the full-time teaching staff up to six.

Ms Leetch, who has a honours degree in music from the Guildhall School of Music in London, will teach the violin.

She said she was looking forward to going around to the Island's various schools and teaching groups of children.

"I'm looking forward to team teaching, I like teaching in groups,'' Ms Leetch said. "The one thing I have noticed is that the kids are very enthusiastic around here.'' She said she will probably visit eight to ten schools a week, teaching children in groups ranging in size from three to 12.

"I like this programme because all the kids get the same chance to experience music.'' The Menuhin Foundation is a charity funded by patrons and the Ministry of Community and Cultural Affairs. Foundation teachers visit primary schools and provide free instruction in violin, viola, and cello.

The foundation also holds workshops and orchestral courses throughout the year.

In addition to her school programme, Ms Leetch will also have a private teaching programme.

And as with all Menuhin Foundation teachers, she will also play in the Bermuda Philharmonic Orchestra.
