Jazz it up in the park!
series of free concerts.
The second in the series of 1993 Concerts in the Park will feature some of Bermuda's top jazz bands.
"All that Jazz'' is almost certain to be a success after an experimental concert in October attracted an audience of 3,000 in rainy weather.
But sponsors, the Bank of Butterfield and the Corporation of Hamilton, are hoping that the recent good weather will continue.
Bands include Ghandi Burgess and the Heritage All Stars, Legacy, the Shinbone Alley Cats, Jaz! and Nu Reality.
Senior marketing manager at the Bank of Butterfield, Mr. Tom Lamont said: "There is something for everyone with a variety of music from the '50s to the '90s. It will appeal to all kinds of people, black or white, young and old.
"We are also hoping to attract a lot of tourists into the park so they can mix with the local jazz fans.'' Once again families are invited to take picnics to the park and children will be entertained by volunteers who will paint their faces.
Mr. Lamont said: "The last time we did face painting it was a huge success.
It was only meant to last a short while but it went on throughout the concert.
"We always try to do something to keep the children entertained while their parents are listening to the music.'' Mr. Lamont also pointed out there would be a quick changeover of bands to keep the musical momentum going.
It is the second of six concerts which will be held over summer. Mr. Lamont said a crowd of more than 4,000 for the gospel event in April.
He said: "In terms of the bank involvement we have been very pleased with the reception. The bank wanted to get involved in arts on the Island. We thought this would be appropriate. Music is a common bond between people.
"Victoria Park is a marvellous setting. When the lights are on in the evening it is like a fairyland.'' All the Jazz begins at 5 p.m and is expected to end at 7 p.m.
