points last night, without having to kick a ball.

The champions were awarded three points for last month's game against Southampton Rangers, abandoned due to crowd trouble after 80 minutes with Vasco leading 3-1.

That scoreline will now count as the result, David Sabir, general secretary of the Bermuda Football Association, confirmed last night.

Referee Lawrence DeShields called the players off BAA Field after a fan threw a bottle onto the pitch, in the direction of Vasco goalkeeper Timmy Figureido.

Sabir said the missile thrower would be banned indefinitely from all the Island's soccer fields and he added that Vasco had been cleared of any blame for the incident.

"We recognise that Vasco, as field operators, were not serving beverages in bottles and so the blame cannot be put on them.

"The individual responsible for throwing the bottle is a supporter of Southampton Rangers. The BFA constitution states that clubs must be responsible for their players and members, which implies fans, and steps are being taken to confirm the fan's identity.

"We are waiting for a reply from Southampton Rangers. This individual will be banned from all fields.'' The decision leaves Vasco looking well set to retain their league title, five points clear at the top with six games remaining.

For the second straight year the top two teams in the Second Division will meet in the semi-finals of the Shield instead of the final, after already promoted PHC were drawn against second-placed St. David's. The teams met on the weekend with PHC romping to a comfortable 4-1 victory.
