Intelect subsidiary awarded contracts
Inc. has been awarded South American air traffic control system contracts.
Under the $700,000 and $528,000 contracts in Peru and Argentina respectively, Texas headquartered Intelect will install its S4 digital communications system in Buenos Aires' main airport, Ezeiza, and at the Lima airport.
Contract awards and future prospects signal a "resurgence'' for Intelect, and for future opportunities, Intelect president and CEO Pete Ianace.
In mid 1994, the S4 was first installed at the North Atlantic Oceanic Air Traffic Control Center at Reykjavik, Iceland. In second half 1996, the company then won contracts in Indonesia, Korea and Egypt.
The South America systems will manage and direct all voice functions from operator control screens. The Argentina installation is for 18 air traffic controller positions. In Peru, 22 controller positions will be supported and a second system, with five positions, will be used for training and simulation programmes.
