and a new site is being sought in St. George's.

Fourways owner Mr. Walter Sommer said he was transferring the restaurant to St. George's because there was nothing similar already operating in the town.

"We're relocating,'' said Mr. Sommer. "Hopefully, we'll find something in St. George's and open a similar restaurant there. But nothing has been concluded yet.'' The Peg Leg Grill had been located upstairs at the Phoenix Centre for about three years, he said.

"There were a number of reasons why we decided to close,'' said Mr. Sommer.

He said the restaurant "did not lose money'' but indicated that financial reasons played a significant part in the decision to relocate.

Since the restaurant closed down on Saturday, November 14, business at Fourways' Gourmet Store, which operates in the ground floor of the Phoenix Centre, has gone up, said Mr. Sommer.

He agreed that, to some extent, the two restaurants may have been inadvertently competing for the same customers.

All five permanent staff at the Peg Leg Grill have moved back to Fourways Inn, in Paget, which is the flagship of Mr. Sommer's restaurant group in Bermuda.

It is understood that the Grill's former site may be turned into business offices.
