The school's junior students invited family, friends, and members of the Sunshine League to their dojo in Khyber Pass, Warwick and treated them to a demonstration which showed the practices, beliefs and principles on which the martial art of Aikido is based.

The highlight of the event was a presentation of gifts, selected for the wish list of the children, to Sunshine League house parent Derrick Smith.

"The children purchased these gifts from monies they had raised over the past two months by doing chores for family and friends,'' chief instructor James Baptiste said. "Their efforts were generously matched with a donation from Island Trading Ltd. which made the total a sizable amount and enabled the children to purchase the gifts.'' Sensei Baptiste said he was delighted with the entire project and was very touched by the generosity and sincerity of all who assisted.

He also said he was very grateful to those who had helped to make the day a success.

"As a result of the event, there are a few more people in our community who are aware that the true spirit of Aikido is not one of combat but one of conflict resolution and peace,'' Sensei Basptiste said.

He added that his ultimate goal is to develop his students into responsible, productive citizens who will practice the principles of Aikido every day of their lives so that they will help to build a community of peace.
