PHC's Richards crowned Most Valuable Player

Kevin Richards, of PHC, won his first BFA Most Valuable Player award at the North Field Cricket Pavillion last night.

Defensive lynchpin Kevin Richards capped off a memorable season for PHC by scooping the Bermuda Football Association's (BFA) Most Valuable Player award at last night's annual prize presentation.

Bermuda international Richards beat off competition from last year's winner Kwame Steede, of Devonshire Cougars, and North Village's Ralph Bean to pick up his first MVP accolade.

Richards provided much of the backbone for PHC's triple trophy winning season, which saw the Zebras land the Premier Division title, FA Cup and the Martonmere Trophy.

Richards, who also won the Defender of the Year award, was presented with his trophy by Sports Minister El James at the North Field Cricket Pavillion.

"My MVP award is a reflection of PHC's season," said Richards.

"I have to thank our fitness coach Ellie Wilson who I believe was vital in ensuring last season was so successful for PHC.

"We may not have been as skillful as North Village or Cougars but we out-worked and out-muscled the opposition.

"Last year was my first full season in the Premier Division so to win the MVP award is a great achievement."

PHC supremo Kyle Lightbourne won Coach of the Year, Hamilton Parish 'keeper Nigel Burgess led the way in his category, while talented youngster Keishen Bean, of North Village, claimed the Young MVP award.

Chloe Martin, of North Village, won the Female MVP award.
