Busy Basden will captain two squads

touring Jamaicans when he leads both the Somerset Select and a BCBC President's XI in the first two matches of the six-match tour on Saturday and Sunday.

Somerset's team has not yet been announced but it is anticipated it will contain the bulk of the players from this year's Cup Match, with Basden at the helm.

The Willow Cuts captain has been confirmed as captain for Sunday's match, which is also at Somerset Cricket Club. Also included in the President's XI are St. Geroge's Cup Match captain Graham Fox, Clay Smith, Jason Lewis and Gladwin Edness as the BCBC continues its buildup to the next ICC Trophy Tournament in two years.

"We're definitely gearing ourselves for two years time,'' said chairman of the BCBC selectors, Allan Douglas, who admitted that there will be plenty of places up for grabs in the Bermuda team.

The national team, which will meet the Jamaicans next Sunday in the final match, has not yet been finalised, though it looks certain that Albert Steede will be the captain. The Under-23 team, which will play the visitors next week, has also not yet been chosen.

Most of the Island's top players will play at least two matches against the Jamaicans who will be captained by Delroy Morgan. The Jamaicans arrive tomorrow.

The BCBC President's XI will be led in the bowling department by Andre Smith of Cleveland and Freston Hurdle of Police. Two spinners, Hasan Durham of Western Stars and Kevin Fubler of Willow Cuts, have also been included.
