Cricket umpire excluded from list

Davis, who was involved in a scuffle with fellow umpire Ronald O'Hara prior to Sunday's Premier Division match between PHC and Flatts at White Hill field, has not been included in the list of officials for this week's matches,

at least for the moment.

Davis, who was involved in a scuffle with fellow umpire Ronald O'Hara prior to Sunday's Premier Division match between PHC and Flatts at White Hill field, has not been included in the list of officials for this week's matches, apparently at his own request.

The Bermuda Cricket Umpires Association (BCUA) held a meeting on Tuesday night when the incident was supposed to be discussed. But in the absence of written reports by Davis and O'Hara the matter was not put on the agenda.

O'Hara, meanwhile, has been assigned to officiate Sunday's match pitting St.

George's against Somerset Bridge.

On Sunday players were called on to intervene between the two umpires after Davis reportedly accused his comrade of making derogatory remarks. Verbal abuse, finger pointing and some pushing ensued before the pair were separated, with Davis eventually ordered off the ground by a Somerset Bridge Recreation Club official, leaving O'Hara to operate along with a replacement umpire.

Touring team Conway Cricket Club from Boston, made up mostly of West Indian players, will play their second of four matches today at Sea Breeze Oval when they play league champions Bailey's Bay.

The tourists, who opened their tour yesterday against the Bermuda youth team, will also play hosts PHC tomorrow at Southampton Oval and Cup Match champions St. George's next Tuesday at Wellington Oval. All games are 50 overs and start at noon.
