extended to include two South Shore hotels.

Initially just the Elbow Beach complex was to recieve live broadcasts from the Pollockshields -- lying just yards off its beach -- but it is set to be joined by the Government-run Stonington Beach Hotel.

The ambitious plan -- expected to be on line around early summer of next year -- is the brainchild of the Bermuda Underwater Exploration Institute and they have stated that the idea has been well-recieved by hotel management.

Its cost has yet to be revealed but local businesses have already pledged sponsorship.

The link will be made via state of the art digital cables to screens in the hotels, where live pictures will show visitors the wreck at different times of the day and night.

Cables could be split between the two sites -- next door to each other on South Road.

The 323 foot Pollockshields wrecked in 1914 after hitting the reefs. A captured German vessel, she was carrying ammunition at the time.

She has become a favourite dive site for scuba enthusiasts and snorkelers alike.

It is understood work will start on the link-up next year, when it has been determind whether it will include Elbow and Stonington hotels.

Meanwhile, plans to recruit a new executive director are on hold until meetings to be held in December.

Consultant/trustee Wendy Tucker said there would be a final decision on filling the position -- vacated by Nancy Brennan last December -- by the end of the year.

Officials at the BUEI are also to use the off-season to update and improve various exhibits at the East Broadway site.

Work is being done on the Bathosphere display and plans are well advanced for a new addition to the shipwreck gallery.
