Using a series of reading quizzes, the teachers are able to monitor the students progress as they mature.
A school spokesperson said: "The students have developed a passion for reading, supported by a computer-based Scholastic Reading Count program, which aims to motivate and raise reading levels.'' The school's programme comes during a hail storm of education activities including Education Month, World Mathematics Day and The Royal Gazette 's writing competition.
Education Permanent Secretary, Michelle Khaldun, visited East End Primary last week and presented an award to Primary Four student Matthew Johnston who earned 250 points after passing several quizzes on the books he read.
