Beenie Man wants the whole family to come out
The world's top dancehall reggae DJ is slated to perform tonight in a show that is expected to attract audiences of all ages.
Reggae artist Beenie Man will bring his own unique blend of talent and charisma to the stage at Bernard Field.
The performer is best known for tunes such as "Sim Simma (Who Am I)'', "Girls Dem Sugar'', and "Healing'' with Lady Saw.
And in a bid to attract younger audiences as well as the regular crowd, US-based promoters Phaze One are offering $15 tickets to children 12 and under with ID accompanied by an adult.
"Tickets are going fast, and it seems like the excitement is building up,'' Jason from Phaze One last night.
"The tent is already up -- it's a fully tented event -- and the field is dry already,'' he added.
"And Beenie Man is very enthusiastic about performing in Bermuda.'' The concert also marks the end of Daylight Savings Time -- adding another hour to the concert cutoff time.
Promoters said an autograph-signing party was expected last night at the Odyssey night club, and tonight's after-party is scheduled at the Swinging Doors night club.
Beenie Man will be backed by the popular Jamaican "Blaze'' band and singer Tanto Metro.
Local sound system Playboy will feature along with Florida-based sound system Poison Dart and Atlanta's DJ Apache.
Gates open at 7.30 p.m. and the show starts at 8 p.m. Tickets are $35 and are available at Twenty Seventh Century Boutique, Jamaican Grill, and Dub City Records.
