Malabar show likely to pull in big crowd over the weekend
The final show of the season will be staged this weekend at Malabar. The show, which sees a variety of classes held over Saturday and Sunday, usually attracts one of the largest entries of any show in the equestrian year.
And this year will see action in two rings going on at the same time.
While adults usually cut down on their riding after Malabar, the kids end up riding more despite the heat.
Most of the Island's riding schools have Summer Camp which is a great place for young riders to spend some of the summer.
One such Summer Camp is being held at Lew Bow Riding Centre in Devonshire where they have a new instructor, Kate Wells, in charge.
Wells is from Hampshire, England, and was trained by Carol Green who comes to Bermuda regularly to train Bermuda's riders.
The Summer Camp will be run from June 29 to August 28 and each camp week can be booked separately and will consist of daily group riding lessons or trail rides, stable management, horse care theory, gymkhana games, instructional videos, organised games and there will also be time for swimming.
Each day will start at 8.30 a.m. and finish at 5.15 p.m. and the weeks all start on the Monday.
Manager of Lew Bow, Tricia Gove said: "We will be taking riders who are experienced at all levels -- from beginners to those more advanced.'' The fee for each week is $175.
