The Salvation Army London Citadel Songsters are visiting the Island on their "Bermuda Tour 1998'' under the direction of Bermudian songster leader Bernard Doars, Jr.

Mr. Doars, who has lived in Ontario since 1967, said this is the 38-member group's first visit to Bermuda -- although a few members had visited individually in the past.

Mr. Doars, son of the late Hamilton Citadel bandmaster Bernard Doars and nephew of musician Erskine Doars, studied theory and harmony at the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music.

Mr. Doars has conducted music camps in Bermuda and across Canada and has performed as a soloist in the London Citadel Salvation Army Band in Canada, the US, Bermuda and England.

The choir will be performing tonight at 7.30 p.m. and all day tomorrow at the Hamilton Citadel.
