Top performers lined up for annual Soca Cluster
the featured acts at the second annual Bermuda Soca Cluster next weekend.
And concert organisers Treble Clef Productions said the concert, which will be held at Somerset Cricket Club on May 20, was believed to be the largest of its kind in Bermuda.
Concert promoter Mr. David Frost said, unlike last year when some of the entertainers have each been contracted to perform for at least 30 minutes.
And both Mr. Frost and his right-hand coordinator Ms Karen Hurdle promised that those attending will get their money's worth.
For $45 -- $10 for children under 12 -- concert-goers will be entertained by Bermuda's Legacy, which will open the concert at 8 p.m.
Visiting acts will include the lively and colourful group Madd, past calypso monarch Grynner, and reigning calypso monarch John King who earned the title last year with his hit "Jump & Wave''.
And no strangers to Bermuda, "Ragga Ragga'' performers Red Plastic Bag, Square One, and Barbados road march winner Serenader -- known for his "Juc fuh Juck Party'' hit will also perform.
Top-rated emcee, singer, and comedian, Mac Fingall plans to keep the crowd on their feet between the featured performances.
In addition to the performances, Mr. Frost said there will be specially-designed T-shirts, celebration gadgets, and refreshments on sale.
Among the items served with be the famous Barbadian flying fish.
"We will fly in cases of it,'' Mr. Frost said. "It would not be a soca concert without it.'' Both Mr. Frost and Ms Hurdle stressed the concert will go on "rain, blow, or shine''.
Pointing out that the rain never stops Bermudians visiting Barbados from partying, they urged all residents to come out -- with comfortable footwear -- prepared to jam.
Gates will open at 6 p.m.
Tickets are available at People's Pharmacy, 27th Century Boutique, Captain's Lounge, Jeans Plus, Music Box, Dean's Deli, Travel Planners, and from Somerset Cricket Club.
Admission will be free for St. Brendan's residents and those living in the hospital's community residences.
