Zebras turn to new trio of coaches
will rely on to lead them out of the Second Division after being relegated last season.
Sammy Swan, a former Zebra who has spent the last two seasons playing with Vasco, has been appointed head coach with former PHC skipper Kenny Burt and former Hotels skipper Alan Peacock named as his assistants.
Burt, who previously coached PHC, hasn't been involved with the club for at least four seasons and his return after such a long absence is surprising while Peacock's appointment was also unexpected since the Englishman never had any ties with the club during his long playing career in the Island.
However, PHC president Chris Furbert seemed confident that the club were now in good hands after a frustrating season that saw former player Cecil Robinson replacing Jack Castle as coach.
"I can honestly say that the committee feels very good about having these three coming in as coaches for the coming season. We will be looking forward to some good things next season,'' said Furbert.
"The past season was a tough one with us being relegated. But I am confident that our players and fans can look ahead to much better days now that our new coaching staff has been formed.'' While PHC have filled their coaching vacancy, other prominent teams still faced with coaching dilemmas are Vasco, Somerset Trojans (also relegated to the Second Division) and Hotels.
John Rebello stepped down from Vasco while Randy Horton resigned from Somerset Trojans and Robert Calderon severed his ties with Hotels at the end of last season.
