Poll date set for election
The by-election, as predicted by The Royal Gazette , will be held on Thursday, November 6 -- the day before Parliament resumes.
The by-election was caused by the decision of United Bermuda Party MP and then-Youth and Sport Minister David Dyer to quit politics.
So far, only former Government Planning Director Erwin Adderley has come forward as a UBP candidate for the rock-solid seat.
Nomination day for candidates will be Monday, October 20 and an advance poll for overseas and incapacitated voters will be held at the Wesley Methodist Church Hall, Hamilton on Thursday, October 30 between 10 a.m. and 7 p.m.
The Parliamentary Register to be used for the election will be the one which took effect on June 15, 1997 with no boundary changes. Voters have been asked to check the register to make sure they are on it before going to the polls.
