Johnny's still the boss of struggling parish
of Daihatsu Second Division club Hamilton Parish, The Royal Gazette can confirm.
Reports yesterday stated that Nusum had been fired as coach, however, a reliable source within the club said this was not true and described the report as being a case of "bad journalism''.
"The report was false! There is absolutely no indication that he (Nusum) has been fired,'' said the source. "I don't think he (the journalist) was very professional in his approach and should have contacted someone at the club in authority.'' It is believed that the ill-founded rumour of Nusum's demise had been passed on to a member of the electronic media at Thursday night's soccer double-header at BAA field.
Nusum nor the Parish club president could be reached for comment at press time.
Nususm, formerly an overseas professional, had been instrumental in the club's rise from the depths of the lower division to a position in the top flight, to which they gained promotion in 1990-91.
But after surviving for one season they fell on hard times in 1992-93 and were relegated.
The loss of several prominent players to the transfer market ensued and they currently find themselves floundering in the lower half of the Second Division with a mere five points from seven matches.
Nevertherless, their latest match had them emerge 1-0 victors against fellow strugglers Port Royal in a league match, this following a 3-3 draw with Social Club.
Their precarious position and general lack of bodies has even forced the coach to return from retirement to display his wares, although it has done little to improve their staus.
