Engineer of the Year competition at CedarBridge Academy.

Entrants from Government middle schools and private secondary schools were required to build a bridge completely out of pasta, using only glue to hold their construction together.

The winning entry will be the lightest bridge with a span of 10 inches capable of supporting a two kilogram weight at least four inches above the ground for at least two minutes.

The goal of the competition is to "build a bridge'' between education and the engineering industry and promote awareness of careers in the engineering field in local schools.

The winning student will be named "Young Engineer of the Year'' and will receive a personal computer. The top three winners and their schools will receive more than $2,000 of prizes thanks to the generous sponsorship of this event by Bermuda Microsystems, BELCO, Canber Electric, Woodbourne Associates and Saber Ltd.

Judging will take place on Saturday between 2-3 p.m. in the cafeteria at CedarBridge Academy.
