Faith put to the test!
Dawnette Ming, Deran Parris, Michael Bremar, and Clarke Minors of the New Testament Churches of God took the youth of their churches to Paget Island last weekend.
Some youth described the weekend as little bit of a boot camp. When misbehaving, teenagers and even the counsellors at times had to do any number of push ups for their actions.
The youth were split into six groups and then were allowed to choose group names. Some of the chosen names were Rugrats, Renaissance, and Revolutionary Toy Soldiers.
After a name was picked, a jingle and a dance had to go along with it.
Some brave young Christians entered the water at 6.30 a.m.
"It was freezing,'' one participant said. "My legs started to go numb.'' For others the swim was so nice that they went again at 3 p.m.
The teenagers had there faith put to a test when they were taken to an old fort and left in the dark and told to find their way out.
They were given a scripture to remember which was "We walk by faith and not by sight'' -- II Corinthians 5:7.
On Saturday evening the youth had a rap session on chosen topics such as, music, sex, and teen violence.
Some of the group stayed up until 3 p.m. in the morning. They were extremely tired when they had to wake up at 6 a.m.
On Sunday morning every one went to New Testament's Southside Church in St.
David's.
"I think it was good for the churches to come together,'' Serita Ebbin. "It was good fellowship.''
