seventh overall after yesterday's fifth race in the European Championships in Portugal.

In 15 knot winds, White placed ninth yesterday in a 65-strong fleet which contains many of the world's top sailors he's expected to meet in next year's Olympics.

And so far he's pleased with this week's accomplishments.

"With just one race remaining probably the best we can do is fourth, but that would be pretty respectable,'' said Bromby last night. "There's some good sailors here and I think we've sailed well.'' "We had a bad start today and were about 20th at the first mark, but we got it back to ninth, and I'm happy with that because a lot of the fleet who were ahead of us in the overall standings finished behind us.'' Following today's final race, Bromby and White will head across the border to Spain for the start of the World Star Championships next Saturday.
