Sixteen-year-old Edward Carlington sees the world through a lens -- a camera lens.

The fifth-year Northlands student says he plans on becoming Bermuda's top photographer."I want to get to the point where everyone comes to me and wants me to take their pictures,'' he admits.

The fifth-year Northlands student says he plans on becoming Bermuda's top photographer.

"I want to get to the point where everyone comes to me and wants me to take their pictures,'' he admits.

"All my life I always liked cameras. I guess I like the sound it makes, the click.'' The former East End Primary School pupil says he prefers to take photographs of people and sunsets. He also likes to experiment with his photographs.

At the moment, Edward say he is learning how to develop photographs and operate sophisticated cameras and machinery through an understudy programme where he assists local photo-journalists.

Edward adds that he plans to go abroad to Alabama to study photography.

When not behind the lens, Edward says he enjoys listening to reggae music and playing cricket.

But the St. George's native admits that he is concerned about the increase of violence in Bermuda. "We need more activities to keep people out of trouble,'' he suggests.

He also advises other young people to stay in school and get their education.

"An education is very important,'' Edward stresses.

If given the opportunity, he says he would like to visit the Orient, especially Hong Kong, since "I have always wanted to go somewhere strange and different''.
