Wedding is icing on cake

Elisabeth St-Jacques during a quiet ceremony at Honeymoon Point on Saturday before a small group of family and friends.

The New York Islanders centre, who led his team with 58 goals for the National Hockey League's Patrick Division champions, tried to break away from the reception to watch portions of the third game of the Stanley Cup finals between the Montreal Canadiens and Los Angeles Kings that night, but Mr.

Turgeon dutifully stayed away from the television. After a full day of golf, he plans to watch the fourth game of the series tonight.

"We heard a lot of good things about Bermuda and that is really why we decided to get married here,'' said Mr. Turgeon, who was prepared to postpone his wedding plans -- for a few weeks, at least -- had the Islanders defeated the Canadiens in the Wales Conference finals.

Turgeon and St-Jacques, who are both from Rouyn-Noranda in Quebec, have known each other since they were both 12 and plan to live in Long Island, New York, where he has played since being traded by the Buffalo Sabres last year.

Turgeon compared the beautiful wedding scene in Southampton to scoring 50 goals. "They're both the same,'' he said.
