Expert lessons for Bermuda's majorettes
on his skills to local youngsters.
Five champion baton twirlers from Georgia, and his award-winning majorette son, Jamison, accompanied him.
Mr. Baskett will supervise a series of workshops and tests for 12 local majorette groups.
They began this week and will run through to the Bermuda Day Parade on Monday.
Activities will be held at the Cathedral Hall in Hamilton.
And they will include performances by the five champion baton twirlers from Georgia.
Mr. Baskett is director of the Georgia's Youth on Parade, which trains about 2,500 young people each week.
He has been working with Cultural Affairs officers Miss Ruth Thomas and Mrs.
Ann Francis to set up a programme for local majorettes.
Majorettes who pass the tests will receive "Bermuda Super Strutters'' banners, which they will don in the Bermuda Day Parade.
They have also been invited to Atlanta next January to take part in the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday parade which is televised worldwide.
