Discharge for student

discharge from Senior Magistrate William Francis after she pleaded guilty to using offensive words in a public place.

Prosecutor Sgt. Phil Taylor told the court that Erika DeMello was arrested by Police on September 29, following reports of a disturbance outside the school.

When officers arrived on the scene they were confronted by a large group of students, some of whom were acting in a hostile manner, Sgt. Taylor said.

While in the process of effecting arrests, officers observed and heard DeMello, who shouted: "Leave him the f*** alone.'' When officers warned her to watch her language however, she remained defiant, snapping back: "I don't care. Take me.'' "I hope that the message has got home to you and to everyone else at CedarBridge,'' Mr. Francis lectured. "You're all up there at an age where you're approaching adulthood -- so you've got to start acting like adults.

Those who can't live by the rules had better move on.''
