savouring the sweet taste of a third straight International One Design World Championship.

The quintet also comprising Mr. Mick Finegan, Mr. Lee White, Mr. Mickey Cox and Mr. Malcolm Wilson captured the title on the basis of a string of fine results during the first six races, where they placed first four times to go with a second and a sixth in yesterday's outing.

Their current 123 points lead over the second place competitor Mr. Penny Simmons -- the winner of yesterday's race -- allows them to abstain from competing in today's seventh and final race, instead using it as a drop -- each competitor is allowed to delete a single race result.

Mr. Bromby led from the opening day on Sunday and yesterday marked the completion of his wire-to-wire triumph, which he said would probably be the last time this particular crew would race collectively in the IOD craft.

The team has been together since 1987, when they lost on a tie-breaker to nine-time champion Mr. Bill Widnall, as Bermuda again played host, and since then have accumulated numerous honours, including winning at the International Race Week regatta.

A string of three IOD World Championships began in 1991 in San Francisco, California and continued last year in Marblehead, Massachusetts before returning to local shores.

Next year's event is set for Northeast Harbour in Maine. However, Mr. Bromby said that he was unsure about his participation as he is to place more attention to the Star Class boats in preparation for the 1996 Olympics.

TIME FOR A DUNKING -- IOD world champion, Bermuda's Mr. Peter Bromby, attempts to stave off attempts from his crew to push him overboard at the Royal Bermuda Yacht Club yesterday -- he was unsuccessful!
