Zoom Airlines Ltd is a UK-based sister company to Zoom Airlines Inc, the existing Canadian low-fares, full-service airline which launched in 2002.
Zoom flies Boeing 767-300ER aircraft on transatlantic services and has two on-board travel classes, premium economy nd economy. Premium economy offers priority check-in, a 30kg baggage allowance, extra legroom, 36-inch seat-pitch seating, complimentary drinks, in-flight entertainment, an enhanced meal service and priority baggage reclaim on arrival. Economy provides a 20kg baggage allowance, complimentary soft drinks, a main meal and a snack on all flights.
The company is majority owned by Scottish brothers Hugh and John Boyle. Bank of Scotland’s Growth Equity division acquired a shareholding in Zoom in August 2006.
Zoom operates flights from London, Glasgow, Manchester, Cardiff and Belfast in the UK and Paris in France to Canadian destinations including Edmonton, Vancouver, Calgary, Winnipeg, Montreal, Toronto, Ottawa and Halifax. The fares are competitive: a return journey between London Gatwick and Toronto starts at £260 (about $505), including taxes and fees.
