VISITOR'S VIEW
Tour was worthwhile
November 29, 2007
Dear Sir,
On a recent visit to Bermuda, I had the great pleasure of joining a tour of Pembroke (the particular the area known as "the back of town"). The tour was sponsored by the Department of Tourism, I believe.
As a longtime visitor to your fair islands, it is an area often heard about but, as a tourist, never encouraged to visit. And I probably would not, had this tour not been sponsored by the Department. It was most informative and during the tour we were greeted at one of the lodges and hosted by a Mr. Bridgewater. He was most gracious and covered the history of the lodges in great detail.
I hope these tours will be continued and our tour guide (unfortunately I forget his name) will continue to be the host.
Residents as well as tourists should be encouraged and have the opportunity of visiting the many beautiful and interesting places that the islands have to offer. I would strongly suggest that tours such as this be advertised in the "things to do" in your paper as well at the various hotels and tourist kiosk.
