Belco climbs by 4%

Belco Holdings Ltd. was the big winner on The Royal Gazette/Bermuda Stock Exchange Index (BSX) last week, seeing its share price climb by a total of 85 cents (4.22 percent) to close up at $21.

The utilities firm also traded 3,119 shares, while BF&M Ltd. also boosted its share value by five cents (0.24 percent) to finish on $21, as 2,280 shares changed hands.

But, the banking sector did not fare so well, with Butterfield Bank and Bermuda Commercial Bank Ltd. losing out to the tune of 30 cents (1.72 percent) and five cents (0.45 percent) respectively. Butterfield Bank traded 124,770 shares, while Bermuda Commercial Bank transacted 3,100 shares.

Overall, the Index ended down 32.053 points (0.68 percent) at 4,746.55, with a total of 133,377 shares worth $2,296,673.75 being traded.
