Bank on the BSX

The banking sector was a hive of activity on the Royal Gazette/Bermuda Stock Exchange Index (BSX) yesterday.

LOM (Holdings) Ltd. boosted its share price by 50 cents (0.14 percent), to close up at $4, with 5,000 shares traded, while Bermuda Commercial Bank Ltd. climbed 20 cents (0.02 percent) to finish on $11, as 100 shares changed hands.

But, Butterfield Bank dropped five cents to close at $17.45, with 46,444 shares traded.

Elsewhere, BELCO Holdings Ltd. also declined 50 cents (0.02 percent) to close at $20.75, with 7,700 shares traded.

As a whole, the Index was down by 9.79 points (0.21 percent) at 4,762.49, with a total of 64,069 shares worth $1,069,361.25 being transacted.

The BSX Insurance Index also fell by 1.58 percent to 4,772.28.
