Bad day on BSX

It was a bad day all round for companies trading on the Royal Gazette/Bermuda Stock Exchange Index (BSX) yesterday.

The transportation sector was the hardest hit, with Bermuda Container Line Ltd. and Bermuda Aviation Services Ltd. losing 30 cents (2.1 percent) and 20 cents (3.1 percent) off their share prices respectively.

Meanwhile, BF&M Ltd. dropped 50 cents (2.6 percent) to finish on $18.75, with 300 shares traded.

Butterfield Bank also suffered a similar fate, declining by five cents (0.3 percent) to close at $17.70, as 2,000 shares changed hands.

Overall, the Index was down 18.07 points (0.37 percent) at 4,821.18, with a total of 4,400 shares worth $54,915 traded.

The BSX Insurance Index, however, bucked the trend, closing up 0.38 percent at 1,186.94.
