Teen boys reportedly awoke to find man performing oral sex on them
A man who admitted that he attempted to perform sexual acts on two sleeping teen boys was given a suspended sentence.
The 23-year-old St. David’s man pleaded guilty to two counts of committing acts of gross indecency.
The court also heard that Shawn Nusum had pleaded guilty to a similar offence when he was 17 years old and was sent abroad for treatment. The court heard that on separate occasions between July 1 and August 13 last year, two teen boys woke and found the man performing oral sex on them. They resisted and he stopped.
Defence barrister Victoria Pearman, said that on both instances the accused and the teen boys were drinking and Nusum had mistakenly assumed his advances were welcome.
But Magistrate Khamisi Tokunbo said that was hard to believe as both young men were asleep when the instances happened.
Ms Pearman added that her client realised he was in the wrong and told Police what had happened.
Mr. Tokunbo sentenced him to six months on both counts, to be suspended for two years.
He was also ordered to 50 hours of community service and two years of probation.
