Horizons fire inquiry
Fire fighters continue their investigation today to determine the cause of a blaze last night at the Horizons Guest House property at South Shore Road in Paget.
The alarm was sounded at 6.13 p.m. and the first crews arrived seven minutes later, according to Sgt. Alex Swan of the Bermuda Fire Department. "There were flames going through the roof upon arrival," he explained. The two-storey structure was not one of the guest houses, but some other building near the Horizons golf facility. No one was hurt in the fire. Eleven fire fighters were sent to the scene and four emergency fire vehicles were needed to handle the blaze which was finally knocked down at 7.06 p.m.
Just an hour later the sprawling property near Elbow Beach Park was very quiet as most of the guest houses appeared unoccupied. Managers at Horizons were not available for comment last night.
