Premier Ewart Brown has written to US presidential candidate Senator Barack Obama to congratulate him on his historic caucus victory in Iowa.

The Premier told Sen. Obama many people in Bermuda wished him success and said he fondly remembered the brief conversation the pair had at the Congressional Black Caucus Weekend last year.

"Clearly your accomplishments thus far in the race for President have invigorated people all over the United States, but you should know that same excitement can cross an ocean," wrote Dr. Brown.

"I've talked to fellow Bermudians who are cheering for your campaign because they are so encouraged by what it represents. On behalf of those people, I write to wish you continued forward momentum as you strive toward November, 2008. I have always been grateful for the kind words you offered during our brief conversation at the Congressional Black Caucus Weekend last year; today provides me an opportunity to reciprocate with a few words of encouragement."
