A range of young people answered Gazette's survey
The Royal Gazette asked people aged 18-30 to participate in a survey about their views on politics and the issues they want addressed in the upcoming election.
A request was placed on all politically-orientated Facebook groups and representatives of both parties' youth wings were asked to place the appeal on their Facebook groups, which they did.
Members of both youth wings replied and so did young people who are not affiliated with either party
Thirty people responded to the request. Eighteen of the respondents are male and 12 are female. Fifteen of the people who replied are white and 15 are of African decent .
One member of the PLP youth wing replied to the request along with the daughter of Attorney General Philip Perinchief and two members of the UBP's youth wing participated in the survey.
The participants range in age from 20-30 and come from a variety of backgrounds. Some are currently studying locally and abroad or working on the Island.
All but one are registered to vote, though one of the participants said he plans to spoil his vote because he has little faith in either party but believes in exercising his right to vote.
Most get their news from Bermuda's papers and radio, though some said they rely on blogs to keep them abreast of the Island's issues.
The voter registration list was not completed by press time so The Royal Gazette was not able to ascertain if the number was a proportionate representation of the 18-30 electorate.
However, in Research Innovation's latest poll completed at the end of October, 74 people aged 18-35 were polled.
Pollster Walton Brown said the survey had been done under similar procedures as polls he produced for The Royal Gazette before that arrangement was stopped after he became an election candidate for the Progressive Labour Party.
