Gaffney to head Ace unitRobert Gaffney is to lead Ace’s newly-formed Global Services Unit as senior vice president.
He has rejoined Ace to take up the position after a spell with Liberty Mutual Alternative Markets, where he was president.
The announcement of the appointment was made by Ace USA and Ace Overseas General.
Mr. Gaffney will be responsible for overseeing the delivery of Ace products and services through Ace’s global network of offices, according to a Business Wire statement.
He is to be based in Philadelphia, and will report to John Lupica, Ace USA president and chief executive officer, and Ace Overseas General’s president and chief operating officer Ed Clancy.
When last at Ace he served as president of the Ace USA Programme Division.
Fitzhenry joIns TycoMulti-billion dollar conglomerate Tyco Internationa>, which last week held two key shareholder meetings in Bermuda, has hired Pfizer’s senior director and communications leader Paul Fitzhen$>.
Mr. Fitzhenry has joined the Bermuda-headquartered company as vice president of corporate communications and will be responsible for leading the company’s internal and external communications at the corporate level and overseeing the corporate communications team.
His appointment comes as the $61 billion multi-faceted company prepares to split into three separate entities; Tyco International, Tyco Electronics and Tyco Healthcare.
In a statement, Mr. Fitzhenry is said to have a diverse communications background gained through assignments in the US, Canada and Europe and most recently as senior director and team leader for corporate communications at New York-based Pfizer.
He was also previously group director of media relations and financial communications for Pharmacia Corporation and holds a master’s degree from the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University. He serves on the executive committee of the Conference Board’s Council on Corporate Communications Strategy.
Tyco’s vice president of media relations Sheri Woodruff, who has worked for the company for three years, is to join Tyco Electronics as vice president of corporate communications at its new headquarters in Berwyn, Pennsylvania, once the companies three-way separation is complete.
Tyco held its annual meeting and a special shareholders meeting at the Fairmont Hamilton Princess Hotel last week to confirm an intended 1-for-4 reverse share split later this year, which is connected to the separation of the three main businesses into new entities.
In 2006 Tyco recorded a $2 billion growth in revenue to $41 billion.
