Cambridge Who's Who professional of the year

Former HSBC Bank of Bermuda banking officer Dorothea Butterfield has been named Cambridge's Who's Who Professional of the Year.

She received the award for her dedication, leadership and excellence in all aspects of Bermudian financial services.

With 27 years of experience in finance, Ms. Butterfield has managed accounts and assisted customers in her capacity as banking officer at HSBC Bank of Bermuda and became the first black woman to hold a supervisory position in a local bank in Bermuda when she was promoted to supervisor of the savings department in 1971 and then banking officer in 1978.

"These were important milestones for not only my career, but for women and other persons of colour in Bermuda," she said.

Ms. Butterfield also holds a diploma in banking, as well as being a member of the Justice of the Peace of Bermuda and the Bermuda Diabetes Association. Additionally, she is a founding member of the Business and Professional Women's Association of Bermuda.
