Burglars target Pembroke homes

Police have issued a warning to Pembroke residents after 13 burglaries took place in a 24-hour period in the parish.

A statement issued yesterday said: “Bermuda Police Service has noticed a recent increase in the amount of burglaries in the City of Hamilton area.

“Over the past 24 hours there were 13 reported burglaries, most of them occurring in the Pembroke/City of Hamilton area. Police are reminding residents and businesses alike to secure their premises and to be vigilant for any suspicious individuals hanging around their property.”

Two of the break-ins — one on Berkeley Mews on Wednesday and one on Cedar Avenue on Tuesday — saw quantities of cash stolen. Nothing was taken during another burglary on Wednesday on Trelawney Lane.

Police urged the public to report any suspicious individuals or activity to them on 295-0011.
