Visitors' room hit by burglar

An early-morning thief broke into a cottage and stole belongings from visitors to the Island.A silver Sony digital camera and a pair of Dior sunglasses in a white leather case were taken in the raid at the guest property in Devonshire between 1.30 a.m. and 9.30 a.m. on Thursday.It was one of three burglaries within a two-day period which are being investigated by Police.

A silver Sony digital camera and a pair of Dior sunglasses in a white leather case were taken in the raid at the guest property in Devonshire between 1.30 a.m. and 9.30 a.m. on Thursday.

It was one of three burglaries within a two-day period which are being investigated by Police.

Between 5.15 a.m. and 2.30 p.m. on Wednesday, a thief stole a Sony DVD player and stash of coins from a home in West Park Lane, Pembroke, while the homeowner was out.

Another offender took two watches after breaking into a home at Rec-View Hill, Devonshire, between 6.45 a.m. and 3.45 p.m. on Thursday.

Officers would also like to remind seniors to take care when opening the door to strangers. Always demand to see some form of identification, which Police officers, BELCO employees and BTC staff are all required to carry. Beware people knocking at the door offering to do jobs around the house and asking for payment in advance.
