Groundhog day

For a second consecutive day the Royal Gazette / Bermuda Stock Exchange remained stationary on 4,994.1 points.

A total of 4,400 shares were traded but there was no movement in closing prices resulting in the market unmoved at the same level it settled at Wednesday’s close.

Since the world stock markets were hit by turmoil and dramatic losses on Tuesday the BSX has moved within a narrow 10 point range.

On Friday the biggest number of shares exchanged was 3,000 in insurance firm BF&M, but there was no change to the share value of $18.25.

In the banking sector shares of Butterfield Bank remained active with 1,400 changing hands, but again there was no shift in the closing price of $57.50.

The total value of local shares traded was $135,525.
