<Bz39>BSX climbs 1%
The Royal Gazette / Bermuda Stock Exchange (BSX) Index climbed just over one percentage point last week to break through the 5,000-point barrier.
Driving those gains was the Bermuda Commercial Bank (BCB), whose share price rose 25.63 percent ($2.55) to $12.50, a 52-week high, as 2,100 shares were traded.
Enjoying a similar ascent was Bermuda Container Line Ltd., which climbed 24.58 percent as 100 shares sold to close on $14.95 — again a one-year high. A third issue to reach a 52-week high was Argus Group Holdings Ltd., which gained 50 cents (3.57 percent) on the trading of 3,172 shares this week, to close on $14.50.
The only other advancer was Bermuda Aviation Services Ltd., which closed up 5 cents (0.8 percent) to close on $6.30 after 1,000 shares traded.
By far the most heavily traded issue was Butterfield Bank Ltd., which closed Friday unchanged at $57 after 9,853 of its shares traded.
KeyTech Ltd. was another popular issue, with 4,697 of its shares trading, as was BF&M Ltd., which also remained unchanged after 4,000 shares changed hands.
Volume was 26,362 shares traded over the week and turnover was $823,718.25. The Index closed up 53.28 points (1.06 percent) at 5,012.41.
