Teen to teen: Students raise money for young mothers

Students from Bermuda High School for Girls have raised more than $1,000 for a shelter for young mothers and their children.

A cheque for $1,115.47 — collected during a recent non-uniform or "grub" day at the school — was presented to Michelle Wade, director of Teen Services, at a special assembly.

She told students that the money would go toward Teen Haven, a place offering temporary sanctuary to teenage mothers and their children.

Ms Wade said one of the key aims of the organisation was to ensure families stayed together.
