Gordon Knight has been appointed as president of US operations, distribution and marketing at Allied World Assurance Holdings.

Mr. Knight joins Allied World from AIG Domestic Brokerage Group, where he most recently served as president of sales and marketing for AIG Domestic Property and Casualty Companies.

In his new role, Mr. Knight will be responsible for expanding Allied World's US insurance platform, including leading marketing and distribution initiatives and assisting the management team with the growth of specialty programme business.

He will be based in Allied World's New York office. Allied World's president and CEO Scott Carmilani said: "His many years of experience in the industry will add depth to our organisation, and he will provide strong leadership and guidance to our talented management team."
