It was a weekend of mixed fortunes for Flatts.

A day after being decisively beaten by St. David?s in the Eastern Counties cup final at Sea Breeze Oval, Flatts on Sunday advanced to the final of the Premier Division Knockout Cup by beating Social Club in a bowl-off at Devonshire Rec.

Heavy overnight rain on Saturday combined with early morning showers on Sunday affected both Premier Division Knockout matches on Sunday, the result forcing the semi-finals to a bowl-off to decide who will advance through to the finals.

Flatts edged Social Club 1-0 in their clash, veteran player-coach Garry Brangman being the only bowler to hit the stumps while Southampton had more accuracy among their bowlers as they beat Bailey?s Bay 4-3 at Sea Breeze Oval.

Two scheduled First Division games were able to be played, although both were reduced because of the rain.

At Somerset CC, Leg Trappers defeated PHC by seven wickets in a game that saw former senior national squad batsman Daniel Morgan and current national soccer coach Kyle Lightbourne coming within whiskers of scoring centuries.

PHC finished with 225-3 in 40 overs with Morgan not out on 97 and Lightbourne striking 91. Leg Trappers were 182-3 from 27 overs when rain interrupted play and when they restarted and faced an adjusted target of 192 from 34 overs. Trappers raced to victory, finishing on 197-3.

At White Hill, Cleveland had no trouble brushing off hosts Somerset Bridge. Scores: Cleveland 189-6, Somerset Bridge 110.
