Jaymo Durham and Kenny Phillips combined to take eight wickets to lead Social Club to this five-wicket Premier Division victory at Devonshire Rec. yesterday.

In a game that started an hour late because of overnight rain and also reduced to 37 overs, Social Club were able to adjust to the damp wicket better than the visitors.

Durham and Phillips made it a difficult day for Somerset, the duo pinning down their opposition with some probing deliveries.

Durham was the more menacing of the pair, finishing with five for 25 in eight overs while the veteran Phillips snatched three for 24 off 6.3 overs.

The only Somerset players in double figures were openers Dwight Basden and Azeem Pitcher with 45 and 12 respectively.

The pair put on 25 in the opening stand but once Pitcher was dismissed there was no other significant partnership as the West Enders were bundled out in 28.3 overs after just reaching the century mark.

With the wicket still showing some signs of dampness, Social Club suffered an early setback in reply when opener Detroy Smith (0) went with just five runs on the board but they were able to creep up to 65 for four and then remain on course for victory despite a few hiccups along the way.

Dennis Zuill scored 18 and veteran player-coach Charlie Marshall added an unbeaten 23 as Social Club coasted to victory in 20.5 overs with five wickets down.

David Gibbs was the chief wicket taker for Somerset with two for 23 off five overs.
