Man found in road after being attacked

A 45-year-old man was in a critical condition in hospital last night after being attacked on Saturday night.

Police said the victim, from Pembroke, was found lying in the road in an unresponsive state by two motorists before being taken to the King Edward VII Memorial Hospital (KEMH).

?At 11 p.m. on Saturday, Police attended a reported assault on Glebe Road in Pembroke near the junction with St. Monica?s Road,? a Police spokesman said. ?The Bermuda Fire Service and paramedics from KEMH also attended the scene. Details about the incident remain unclear.?

The spokesman said the man was taken to KEMH via ambulance for treatment of head and facial wounds, as well as a suspected serious concussion.

A hospital spokeswoman said last night that the man was in a critical condition.

Police are appealing for anyone with information about the assault to contact the Hamilton Criminal Investigation Unit on 295-0011.

* Police said last night that four men had been arrested in connection with the incident and inquiries were ongoing.
